Ghee Rice
You will need:
Long grained Rice - 2 Cups (washed and soaked for 20 mins)
Ghee -2 tbsp
Onion - 2 (sliced)
Cloves - 2
Cardamom - 2
Cinnamon - 1 inch
Saunf - 1 tsp
Bayleaf - 1
Water - 5 cups
Salt to taste
Heat a heavy bottomed pan (a Pressure cook pan also will do).
Add Ghee. Once the ghee is hot, add cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaf and saunf.
Fry for a minute or two.
Add the sliced onion. Fry until the onions are golden brown.
Add the rice and continue to saute until the rice is fried and completely white.
Add water, salt and close the lid and cook it for 20 mins.
Serves about 4-6 people
Goes well with Veg Kurma/ Daal fry

PS: Long grain rice is also called Basmati Rice locally.
