Carrot & Lentil Soup

You will need:
Split Green gram - 4 tbsp (pressure cooked) (moong dal/Hesaru beLe/Pandanji/Padangi)
Carrots - 2 no.s
Onion - 1 finely chopped
Garlic - 6 cloves finely chopped
Pepper - 6 to 10 corns
Cumin - 1 tsp
Butter - 1 tsp
Oil - 1 tsp
Milk/ cream- 1/4 cup (Optional)
Salt to taste

You will have to:
Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan.
Add pepper and cumin and let it splutter
Add garlic and saute till golden brown.
Add chopped onion and saute till golden brown
Add carrots and fry for 2 - 3 minutes
Add 1 cup water and let it cook.
Pour the mixture in the mixer  and blend it to a fine paste. Mix green gram and paste in a thick bottom vessel and let it boil.
Add the paste and salt.  Add water/ milk/ cream to bring soup to your preferred consistency.
Heat 1 tsp of butter on top.


Skill Level: Intermediate 
Makes: 4-6 cups of soup
Preparation Time: 30 mins
Cooking Time: 30 mins 
Goes well with: Garlic Bread, rusk or just like that

Tip: 
(i): Add green peas & boiled Carrot pieces if you like some crunch in the soup
