Tomato Saasmi

This again is one of the recipes that I got from Amma. Amma used to make this when people would stay for dinner, when there is not much food remaining from the afternoon's cooking, or when there is very little time to cook something from the scratch. This doesn't even require to be cooked. and it is a favorite in my family.

You will need:
Tomato - 2-3 nos (chopped)
Onion - 1 no. (chopped - Optional)

Masala:
Coconut - 1/2 dessicated coconut
Red Chilies - 4-6
Mustard Seeds - 2 tbsp
Tamarind  - 1/2 lemon size
Turmeric -1 pinch
Salt to taste

Method: 


  • Grind the masala ingredients coarsely in  a mixer and pour it in a bowl
  • Add tomatoes (no cooking required)
  • Add raw chopped onions (optional)
 Serves about 3-5 people
Goes well with Rice/Chapathi
Skill level: Easy
Cooking time: 10-15 mins 
Tip: If you like the mustard flavor like I do, then add another tbsp of mustard to the masala while grinding.
